The director’s decision was to mix 3D layers with 2D characters to create a fascinating, multi-layered animation.

Little Boy

‍

In this story the main character is growing up as we watch it. For its younger version we created an adventurous young man with a big backpack. Small details, like Saturn on his T-shirt, tie the whole narrative together.

Big Boy

‍

In just one shot, our boy gained a couple years and became a teenager. Still adventurous, but instead of exploring an enchanted forest, he’s roaming the campus on his skateboard.

Shark

‍

One of the enemies the boy faces is a shark. We tried to make it not only massive and scary and showed that it’s been through many fights – its fins have bites and scratches.

Monster

‍

The scariest part – a forest-dwelling monster. The challenge was to make this creature one with trees and soil to create a threat emerging from nowhere.
